Ethics and Integrity in Research – refers to one of fundamental pillars of every research organisation. It is increasingly emphasised also by the European institutions and research funders, thereby additionally motivating European universities to incentivised their work in this area. Research relies on public trust and it can only be preserved if it is founded on ethics and integrity. Nevertheless, studies show that despite being broadly supported, it is equally broadly violated. Thus, constant work on raising awareness of ethical research standards is needed. The presentation will discuss some studies on breaches of ethics in research, problems with the “publish or perish” approach and current regulatory framework on research integrity in Slovenia, Europe and worldwide.
